Laser Hair Removal Q & A

What parts of the body can be treated with laser hair removal?

Virtually any area of the body can be treated with XEO laser hair removal. The most common treatment areas include:

  • The upper lip
  • The chin
  • The bikini area
  • The lower arms
  • The lower legs
  • The underarms

If you have problem hair growth in a different area, please contact Anderson Obstetrics & Gynecology to ask about it -- in most cases, we can help with hair growth in any area.

How is laser hair removal superior to other hair removal methods?

Laser hair removal with the XEO laser is superior to any other type of hair removal for many reasons, including:

  • Results last much longer -- for many years or even permanently -- than they do with shaving, waxing, or electrolysis
  • Laser hair removal is clean -- no messy shaving creams, depilatory creams, or nicks from shaving
  • Laser hair removal with the XEO laser is fast, with sessions lasting only around 30-60 minutes
  • The XEO laser offers superior comfort
  • The XEO laser can be used on all types of patients, even pregnant women, safely

How many treatments are needed for good long term results?

Most patients need around four to six XEO laser hair removal treatments in total, with each treatment four to six weeks apart. After the final treatment session, most patients experience a dramatic reduction in hair growth. This reduction in hair growth usually lasts for many years, and if regrowth does happen it will typically be far lighter in shade and thinner in texture.

What will your hair growth look like between laser hair removal sessions?

Between laser hair removal sessions, it's normal to see some hair growth. Hair grows in cycles, so a series of sessions is the best way to address the growth in all cycles.

The hair shafts treated during the initial session will usually shed gradually in the weeks after treatment. At the two to three week mark post treatment, all of the treated hair follicles will typically be gone. New hair growth and stray hairs that remain will be addressed in the next treatment session. It's normal to experience some level of stubble until your series of treatments id complete, but the end reward of smooth skin is well worth a bit of short term stubble.
